Release notes

Every version, what changed in it, and why.

Humble Voice updates itself — open the menu bar and choose Check for Updates, or wait and it will offer the next version on its own. You can also download the current build at any time. The latest version is 1.2.

1.2

September 11, 2026 Current

A smoother path through the permission screens.

New

  • Onboarding can now restart Humble Voice for you after you grant a permission. macOS does not tell a running app that permission has been granted, so a restart was always needed — now it is one click instead of quitting and finding your place again.

Fixed

  • Humble Voice could insist it had no permission to type at your cursor moments after you had granted it. It now recognises either of the two system privileges that single System Settings switch can write.

1.1

September 8, 2026

Every way the app could fail quietly now explains itself.

Fixed

  • Pressing the hotkey before the speech model finished downloading did nothing at all, with no explanation. It now tells you it is still preparing, and starts recording by itself once it is ready.
  • Pressing the hotkey with a permission missing also did nothing. Each case now says which permission is needed.
  • First-run progress showed a full circle before anything had happened, and the download detail could read "0 MB of 0 MB".
  • AI Refine sometimes answered a dictated question instead of editing it — asking "what time should we meet?" could come back as an invented answer. It now edits what you said and never replies to it.
  • The Refine panel had a dead title bar with a second, redundant close button.
  • The recording pill drew a faint rectangle around itself.

Changed

  • The speech model is now stored in Application Support instead of your Documents folder, where it should never have been.
  • Version numbers are simply 1.1, 1.2 and so on — no build numbers in the About window.
