Installing

Drag it into Applications

When the disk image opens, drag Humble Voice into the Applications folder rather than launching it from the image. An app run straight from a disk image is copied by macOS to a temporary read-only location, where Open at Login can't be registered and updates can't install — both of which then look like bugs in the app rather than a step that got skipped.

"Downloaded from the Internet" on first launch

The first time you open it, macOS asks you to confirm:

"HumbleVoice" is an app downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?

That's normal, and it's the good version of that dialog — read the small print and it says Apple checked it for malicious software and found none. Humble Voice is signed and notarized by Apple, which is what earns that sentence. Click Open. You'll only see it once.

The message you should never see is "cannot be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software." If that ever appears, the download was damaged or tampered with — don't work around it, email us.

Before you email

A few quick checks that resolve most things:

  • Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and confirm Humble Voice has Microphone, Input Monitoring, and Accessibility permissions.
  • Try the default hotkey (Right Option) in a fresh TextEdit document. Rules out the target app being unusual.
  • Restart the Mac. Reclaiming the Neural Engine sometimes fixes "stuck" transcription on long-running sessions.
  • Make sure you're on the latest version. Humble Voice → menu bar → Check for Updates.

Email us within 30 days of purchase, no questions asked. The trial exists so you don't have to take our word for it.

Your license

A Humble Voice license is tied to the email address you bought it with, and it covers personal use on any Macs you personally own or control. New Mac, second Mac, work Mac, home Mac — all fine.

Licenses are not transferable to other people. If you sell or give away a Mac, please remove Humble Voice before handing it off.

Lost your license email after a clean install or system migration? Email support@humblemedia.net from the address you bought with and we'll resend it — usually within a day.

System requirements

macOS 14.6 Sonoma or later. Apple Silicon (M1+) preferred for speed; Intel Macs work with slightly higher latency.
